Rumors have swelled for over a year now that David Bechkam’s Inter Miami would make a blockbuster statement signing and it has come with the arrival of 32-year old Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus on a free transfer.
Higuain becomes the second high profile signing from Juventus alongside 33-year old French midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
With respect to Higuain and Matuidi, they are both past their prime. However, Inter Miami have also spend $24.4 million of three promising South Americans (Rodolfo Pizarro, Matías Pellegrini, Julián Carranza) but these players have knowhere near the profile Higuain once had in his prime.
Higuain joined Juve from Serie A rivals Napoli for an Italian record fee of £75m in July 2016. Frederico, Gonzalo’s brother also plays for DC United.
