After costing Barcelona $25 million it’s only a matter of time until Sergino Dest becomes the first American soccer player to play for Barcelona. His buy-out clause is also set at $400 million.
A buy-out clause is required by the Spanish Football Association but only means the amount of money another club has to pay if the selling club, now Barcelona, don’t want to sell the player. If Manchester City decide to cough up $400 million for one player then by the terms of his contract Barcelona have to sell him.
Dest was born in the Netherlands to a Dutch mother and American father, Dest has represented the United States internationally at senior level since 2019.
