Okay, so you need to check the terms but I’m sure I’m right on this. Dave Portnoy and Penn have announced that anyone who lives in Pennsylvania opens a new account on Barstool Sportsbook and gambles with fully backed bets, Penn will match it with a donation to the Barstool Fund. However, there is a way for new customers to donate far more to the Barstool Fund than the money they are risking on the bet.
Let’s say for example Kansas City Chiefs are at home. You place a $100 bet on Kansas to win. But then use a peer-to-peer betting exchange and place a bet on Kansas NOT TO WIN. So if Kansas City win Barstool Sportsbook will pay out as normal. Let’s say $50. But you will lose $60 to the betting exchange resulting in a loss of $10. But Penn make a donation of $100 to the Barstool Fund. If Kansas City lose then Penn will still make a donation of $100 to the Barstool Fund and the peer-to-peer exchange will pay you around $90. So regardless of whether Kansas City win or lose you will lose $10 but Penn will make a donation of $100 to the Barstool Fund.
So by all accounts this is away for people to have $100 donated to a charity but it only costs them around $10!
